
Can you imagine a mobile-based virtual pet that could hop around without any markers or cards? Zenitum, a South Korean company, has just created the first markerless virtual pet called iKat, using its Depth-track (D-Track) engine.
As you can see in the first video below, the iKat works very well although it is just a prototype. How does this App work? In the other video, you can see that the App scans the area and immediately creates a virtual grid in the 3D space. Then, it places the virtual pet on top of a keyboard.
For the moment, iKat does not do much but Zenitum will keep developing its D-track technology so we will see more uses of this App soon.
