HTC EVO 4G: The First WiMAX Phone available this Summer!

Sprint Nextel Corp unveiled the HTC EVO 4G yesterday. The phone will support both the higher-speed WiMax network, operated by Clearwire Corp, and Sprint's CDMA network. It is possible that the phone will be called Supersonic, which was its code name.

Sprint is going to launch its 4G phones in summer 2010.But what is its bigger rival doing? Verizon Wireless is also building a 4G network that will be possibly ready at the end of the year. However, it does not expect to have 4G handsets until the middle of 2011.

The principal specs of the HTC EVO 4G are:
•    the Android Platform with HTC Sense™
•    4.3-inch screen which 30% bigger than the screen of the iPhone
•    8.0 MP camera HD video capture and 1.5 MP camera for video chat
•    HDMI output to play content on your TV
•    Mobile Hotspot capability connects up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices
•    1 GHZ Snapdragon processor
•    Connects to you HDTV so you can watch HD movies
•    1 GB built-in memory and 512 MB RAM

iKat: The augmented reality pet that hates markers and cards!

Can you imagine a mobile-based virtual pet that could hop around without any markers or cards? Zenitum, a South Korean company, has just created the first markerless virtual pet called iKat, using its Depth-track (D-Track) engine.

As you can see in the first video below, the iKat works very well although it is just a prototype. How does this App work? In the other video, you can see that the App scans the area and immediately creates a virtual grid in the 3D space. Then, it places the virtual pet on top of a keyboard.

For the moment, iKat does not do much but Zenitum will keep developing its D-track technology so we will see more uses of this App soon.
