Finally, Apple approved the Opera Mini 5 for the iPhone on April 12 at 20:56:00 UTC. It took Apple 20 days 8 hours and 31 minutes to review the browser. Normally, the review process takes up to one week.
The principal feature of the Opera Mini 5 is its server-side compress, which downloads and compresses a web page by 90% before sending it to the client. According to Opera, there is a 5-1 ratio of page load speed over safari. 2G users are going to really love this App!
Why did Apple approve Opera? It does not violate any SDK rules. The Opera Mini Web Browser is already available on the European App Store and will be released in the USA later today.

Opera submitted the new Opera Mini 5 for iPhone to Apple App Store on March 23, 12:25 UTC. Although this new Mini does not break any of App Store’s rules, Apple's response is very uncertain.
The principal feature of the Opera Mini 5 is its server-side compress, which downloads and compresses a web page by 90% before sending it to the client. This method increases your page loads dramatically. According to Opera, there is a 5-1 ratio of page load speed over safari.
The Opera Mini 5 makes Safari look so slow. That is why iPhone will probably reject the super fast Mini 5. Do you want to win a brand new iPhone? If so, you have to sign up on My Opera and guess when Apple will approve the new Mini.

Sprint has just released a clever and funny promotional video in which they show an Overdrive 4G hotspot. This device can connect your iPhone to the Sprint 4G network so you could surf on internet up to 10 times faster.
Sprint’s ad mocks AT&T’s issues, specially the slow speed on its 3G network. The video shows a “cool “guy that helps his friend to have 4G connectivity. How? With a Sprint Overdrive! Would you buy another device for making you iPhone as fast as Flash?
Watch out the video below.

Can you imagine a mobile-based virtual pet that could hop around without any markers or cards? Zenitum, a South Korean company, has just created the first markerless virtual pet called iKat, using its Depth-track (D-Track) engine.
As you can see in the first video below, the iKat works very well although it is just a prototype. How does this App work? In the other video, you can see that the App scans the area and immediately creates a virtual grid in the 3D space. Then, it places the virtual pet on top of a keyboard.
For the moment, iKat does not do much but Zenitum will keep developing its D-track technology so we will see more uses of this App soon.

INQ is following up its Facebook mobile phone with two new and easy to use 3G Twitter mobile phone. These new two INQ phones, the INQ Chat (Qwerty-style phone) and the INQ Mini are both featured INQ’s social media application suite. (Skype, Twitter, Facebook, IM, and e-mail).

INQ has worked closely with Twitter in order to develop the Twitter apps for both mobile phones. These Twitter phones are indicative of a big trend mobile social media. According to “Power to people, wave 4”of Universal Mc Cann, 17% of active internet users access internet on the move to do social media activities. Thus, there will be an increasing demand for these twitter mobile phones or social media ones, even if they are not revolutionary.
