

The latest “Internet Trends” report of Morgan Stanley was presented by Mary Meeker at Events@Google on April 12. The focus is almost 100% on mobile internet and social Networking.
Some Highlights:
• The mobile internet will be bigger than desktop in five years.
• There are five tech cycles in the last 50 Years: Mainframe Computer (1960s), Mini-Computing (1970s), Personal Computing (1980s), Desktop Internet Computing (1990s), and Mobile Internet Computing, 2000s (began Two Years Ago).
• 3G coverage is available to at least 20% of the world's mobile users.
• Companies and brands will continue to leverage social networks for fans and for revenue.
• Video is driving the rapid growth in mobile internet traffic.

Karl Fisch, Scott McLeod, and Jeff Brenman have launched a "Do you know" series of videos visualizing data on YouTube since 2007. Did You Know 4.0 is an official update to the populat"Shift happens" video. This new version includes facts and statistics focusing on the media landscape from the decline in traditional media to the continuous rise of social media and mobile.
They launched the latest version of " Do you know" on September 14th. The video was cdeveloped in partnership with Xplane and The Economist for their Media Convergence forum in October 2009. After some days, the video has become a YouTube Hit with more than 130,000 views.

The controversial result of Iranian election has led to violent protests across Iran due to a possible voting fraud. Iranian government kicked members of the media out. Although it utilizes firewalls and filters in order to control information, it could not stop Twitter and Youtube.
Iranian people have been utilizing Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and other social sites in order to send us news of the crisis in their country. According to a CNN blog spot, Obama’s administration makes sure that information coming from Iranian people is succeeding in reaching the rest of the world. That’s why the State Department asks Twitter not to go down at its original time so as to allow Iranian people to keep sending news to the world.
